Carrie is trying to hold it all together - to stay sober and keep control of the rehab centre she’s been entrusted to lead. But the cracks begin to show when a woman she believes is her daughter turns up seeking help to get clean. We watch as drugs and secrets are exchanged, old wounds exposed, and relationships tested.
Circle Game looks at how trauma returns unbidden, tearing through the boundary between past and present, fantasy and reality… Can the cycle ever be broken?

Using sound and movement to transform an online conversation into a transfixing live performance, the show will offer an intimate insight into the pain and humour found in adolescent isolation and connection.

Marlie Haco
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Marlie is a theatre director & dramaturg who works with scripts and writers at all stages of development. She has a particular interest in directing plays that challenge conventional dramaturgies to ask urgent social and psychological questions. Typically, her work is experimental in form, where movement and music are central to the storytelling. She trained at Central School of Speech and Drama, before completing an English Literature degree at Cambridge University.

Toby Mather
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Toby is a technology entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of an education startup, and helps manage the financial, technical and business aspects of Double Telling. He has been involved in theatre as a photographer, print designer and producer for over a decade, supporting dozens of university and professional projects. He studied Modern Languages & Literature at Oxford University before entering the technology world.
